Blake Baggett won first Supercross victory of his career

The AMA Supercross circus returned to State Farm Stadium in Glendale on Saturday for the second race of the 2019 SX season. Blake Baggett scored his first ever win in the 450 class of Monster Energy Supercross, and in order to do it, he had to pass defending champion Jason Anderson. Even before that happened, the night took an unexpected turn when the main event had to be restarted because of a bad crash from Malcolm Stewart. Stewart went down passing his teammate Vince Friese for a top 10 spot, and his injuries seemed severe enough to bring out the red flag.

As far as the 450cc racing was concerned, Honda’s Ken Roczen grabbed the holeshot in Arizona from the far outside and seemed to have the race well in-hand until Malcolm Stewart went down hard while battling inside the top five and knock himself unconscious.
On the staggered restart, Anderson benefited most and was placed right on Roczen’s rear wheel. After a few laps of hounding Roczen, Anderson dived to the inside after the whoops and took him out. Roczen remounted fourth and eventually ended up third on the night.
